Meet Timberlake! This goofy pup is cute and eager to please. And that’s a good thing, because we’ll be honest: Timberlake is a little bit of a project (but one with a TON of potential—and we’re here to help you every step of the way). But first, the good stuff! Aside from being exceptionally handsome, Timberlake loves meeting new people and is a very sweet and mushy dog who bonds deeply with his people. He’s a fabulous size for city living, to boot. And since we all have room for improvement…Timberlake is an excitable guy and he doesn’t always know how to channel his energy. Luckily, Timberlake knows his basic commands and is a great listener, so even when he’s amped up, he can pause and pay attention. Our training team is continuing to make great progress with him, which he’ll need to keep up in his new home. A structured routine and plenty of time to both play and decompress will help set this guy up for success. If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow companion, Alvin might be the guy for you! Alvin is a bit shy around new people, but once he learns you’re no threat, he’ll offer you a small tail wag. And once he really knows you, Alvin’s real personality comes out! While Alvin should be a good fit for most adult homes, we know for a fact that he is not a fan of kids. Alvin is fearful towards children and babies, and will do best in a home without little ones running around. Jack was rescued from the side of a road in St. Lucia, where he was found limping badly. He was scooped up and brought to the safety of HelpAWS’ sanctuary, where he received initial care. Emaciated and scared, Jack finally knew safety—and despite everything he’d been through, he was gentle and trusting. Shortly after arriving from Animal Haven, Jack received a full veterinary workup. Our veterinary team found that Jack had an old fracture in his back right leg, and determined that amputation would give him the best shot at a pain-free life. Jack just underwent surgery and is recovering at Animal Haven (his photos show him pre-surgery!) Dogs typically adapt well to tripod life, and we're hopeful that Jack will be the same. Jack is otherwise an extremely sweet and snuggly dog. Adopt Jack!

Our “D” puppies arrived with their mama Della, and ohmygoodness are they cute and chunky! These puppies are roly poly little things and are probably going to grow up to be on the larger size. Puppies are a LOT of work, but they make up for that by being incredibly cute and snuggly. You’ll teach them all they need to know, from potty training and socialization to sit and stay! Lana is a sweet soul who wears her heart on her sleeve, and she wouldn't have it any other way! She lights up when meeting new people and is big on snuggles. Shelters are often a challenging environment for dogs, and they each handle it a little bit differently. Lana? She’s a bit of an anxious girly. Our team is working on helping her settle, easing her anxiety, and keeping her mentally and physically enriched during her time with us. Luckily, Lana is a GREAT walker, playful, and treat motivated. She came to us with heartworm, but has since finished her treatment and is ready to start getting back to a normal, active lifestyle! Sailor Mercury is a sweet soul who needs a hand with building her confidence! Sailor Mercury first arrived at Animal Haven as a puppy in late 2024. She was adopted and then returned due to no fault of her own. This darling girl has grown up, but is the same sweet pup we remember! While Sailor Mercury loves spending time with her people, she is pretty nervous about the big city. She will do best in a quieter neighborhood or a home outside of NYC, where she can venture outside without too many cars, bikes, mopeds, and all the scary noises they bring. Our team will help set her future family up for success and are already working on building her confidence day by day. Watch out, world! Lottie is HERE! This spunky senior girl has been through quite a lot lately. She was found running loose in a trailer park in New Jersey. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan spotted her and brought her to a local municipal shelter. Soon after arriving, it became clear that Lottie had some medical issues going on. Our friends at the New Jersey shelter asked if we could help out, and we took one look at this darling girl and said YES! Lottie has had a number of tests since she arrived, and we’ll be honest: she’s a complicated case, but so far nothing seems terribly serious. Her conditions will need ongoing management, but Lottie should be able to live a normal and comfortable life with a plan in place. We’re currently testing her for Cushing’s, as well as exploring a few other markers that came up in her labs. Our team can fill in interested adopters as we learn more. Lottie is a darling, sweet, and curious girl who loves meeting new people. We would love to introduce you to her—meet her at Animal Haven!

Ryan found his way to Animal Haven when his previous owner sadly did not have enough time to take care of him. Surrenders are always difficult for pets, but Ryan has taken things in stride and is settled in here. Ryan is a bit anxious but overall a sweet guy who bonds quickly with his people. Meet Buddy! This affectionate hound mix went into foster care under difficult circumstances when his owner sadly fell terminally ill. Buddy is looking for a home that will cherish him just as much as they did, and whoever finds him will be very lucky indeed. Buddy is a big boy with a lot going for him! His foster reports that he's house-trained and well-mannered. His love language is belly scratches, and he bonds quickly and deeply with the humans in his life. Fetch, snuggling, and following his nose round out his favorite pastimes. Buddy can be a little uncertain around other dogs, so we think he would thrive as your one-and-only pup. Mario was found as a stray on the streets of NYC. This terrified boy was trembling when he was caught by police who brought him to a municipal shelter. It's hard to say what his life was before he was found, but he's clearly been through a lot. He was completely shut down when he first arrived at Animal Haven - he trembled in the corner and wouldn’t even take treats tossed near him. But our dedicated staff have been working with him every day to earn his trust and we’re so happy to report that their work has clearly paid off. Mario has become fast friends with many of our staff and volunteers and has really come out of his shell, but he will need a patient and understanding family who’s willing to work at his pace to build his confidence and set him up for success. He is still a little bit nervous on walks if there is a lot of foot traffic, so he would likely do best in a quieter neighborhood. Mario has shown no aggression during his time with us, favoring avoidance if he’s ever uncomfortable in any situation. Overall, he is a gentle soul who just needs a little extra time to settle in to a new space. He’s a big guy, but tries to be small whenever he can. We know this sweet boy has a big heart to match and will make an amazing companion for someone willing to put in a little time for him. Interested in Mario? Poor Douglas was found on the side of a road in Antigua, dragging his hind legs. Although his rescuers initially thought he had been hit by a car, upon further inspection his injuries were actually fairly old. They believe that he was likely attacked by other dogs on the island, leaving him with partial paralysis in his hindquarters. Thanks to the amazing Dogs and Cats of Antigua, Douglas has made his way up to Animal Haven where his new life begins. We are so thankful to have the opportunity to give this sweet boy the chance at life he otherwise would not have had. Right now we are still learning more about Douglas's current condition and we don't have a lot of answers just yet. We are sending him to our partner vets for spinal x-rays and a neurological consultation to get a better idea of the extent of his paralysis. Once we have more information, we'll be able to determine if he's a candidate for corrective surgery or wheelchair! We'll keep you all updated along his journey but he is available for adoption right now! Animal Haven will of course be covering the costs of his diagnostics and treatments and we're hopeful Douglas will charm his way into someone's heart soon. In addition to his paralysis, Douglas is also suffering from heartworm, ehrlichia, a urinary tract infection, and open lesions on his legs - we know, he's got a LOT going on. We know what you’re thinking: Alabaster Snowball is CUTE! And you are right—this energetic pup is adorable, from his fluffy ears to his waggy tail. Beneath all that cuteness, though, is a really anxious guy. Alabaster is getting a lot of support through our training and rehabilitation program, where we’re helping him learn that the big city doesn’t have to be so scary. We’re also helping him build coping skills to channel his anxiety and practice calm behaviors. Alabaster’s adopters will need to keep up this routine, with our help of course!
